It's Okay, We Still Have ReRuns. And Booze.

And drinking games to get us through the season!

Have you noticed how long these "mid-winter breaks" in the TV line-up are getting? Resourceful Cocktail Puppies can queue up past episodes of their favourite shows for a little fun at the bar.

This drinking game is from Zap2it.com and features one of my favourite shows - Supernatural!

Time to cozy up with those Winchester Boys for a little fun, if you know what I mean. 

Heather and I will be at the bar drinking with our favourite monster-fighters.

Bananarama

Could any girl who grew up in the 80's, watched the Karate Kid over and over and over again, and dreamed daily of Ralph Macchio while singing Cruel Summer resist making this drink?  Yeah.  I didn't think so.
Bananarama
adapted from 400 Blender Cocktails
makes 2

2 bananas
2-4 Tbs. freshly squeezed lime juice
1/4 c. confectioners' sugar
4 oz. white, amber, or dark rum
6 ice cubes

Blend everything in the blender on high speed.  (Start with the lesser amount of lime juice and add more to taste.)  Pour into glass and serve.  I garnished with a few banana slices.

Hanging on to Summer with Pina Coladas

It's November and so yeah...we're meant to start feeling the cooler temperatures. But sometimes you just aren't ready to wave goodbye to warm breezes. Try and hang on to the season by imbibing tropical drinks. Can't hurt!

This pina colada was so thick you could have eaten it with a spoon.



There is, evidently, a big difference between Coco Lopez's Cream of Coconut and Coconut milk. Yes....that's a no-brainer just reading it but.....you don't realize just how big a difference until you prepare a pina colada with the cream. Wow.

Recipe:
2 ounces Coco Lopez ® Cream of Coconut
2 Ounces pineapple juice
1½ ounces Myers Platinum white
1 cup of ice

Instructions anyone can follow. Mix in blender until smooth.

Frozen goodness.

Maker's 46™ Latte

Thanks to Maker's Mark for submitting this delicious holiday coffee cocktail to get us in the mood! 

Maker's 46™ Latte
by Gary Anza, Chef, Bistro 33

Recipe:


    1 part Maker’s 46™ Bourbon
    2 tablespoons fresh finely ground espresso
    4 parts spring water
    3 parts + 1 ounce organic whole milk
    1/2 cup ice cubes
    1/2 part vanilla vodka
    1 rock candy swizzle stick
    Fresh ground nutmeg

Prepare espresso in stove-top espresso maker. Bring 3 parts milk in a small saucepan or Turkish coffee pot to boil. Mix espresso and milk in coffee mug. Add Maker's 46™ Bourbon. Pour vanilla vodka foam* over espresso milk mixture. Add swizzle stick and pinch of nutmeg. Stir and enjoy.

*Vanilla vodka foam

Add vanilla vodka and 1 part milk to small shaker with ice. Shake vigorously until frothy.

Extra Notes:

Chef Gary recommends this as an after-dinner indulgence or brunch accompaniment. The vanilla vodka pairs well with the natural vanilla notes in the Maker’s 46™ Bourbon, and the rich espresso flavor is a perfect match for its smoky undertones.
